THE EMOTION OF LOVE

The Emotion Of Love        By Arlene Ritzhaupt  2016

What be of love?
Such a strong word,
Who knows it’s true meaning?

Is it to worship and cherish?
Is it to demand and control?
What is the thing we call “Love”?

It is a feeling not a thing
The feelings are like these
It spews through the body and
Fills each pore with a desire;

To want to do,
To want to be,
To want to have,
To want to encase,
To want to hold,
To want to share,
To want to devour,
To want to hide,
To want to expose.

To bust wide open,
To scream,
To jump,
To hold dearly and preciously
To never let go,
To become a part of but to be separate.
To enjoy all there is to enjoy.
To rest and weep
To care and share

That’s what love is
True and false all at once.
Never being afraid
Always charging forward with
The strength of the strongest wind.

It’s Love
When the insides churn
And the blood flows freely
And pounds within the flesh.

The caring
The sharing
The being
That’s what Love is!

It grows with a kiss
And becomes the mountain that protects
And destroys any and all roadblocks
That tumble into the street of your dreams.

It goes up to the skies
And down to the pits of hell.
It revolves and evolves
Into a web of steel
That holds and binds
Where there is no room for another
It consumes and twists
Until every fiber of the being,
Is totally and remorsefully tangled.
Until the one cannot be taken from the other
Without collapse of the framework,
That took so long as an instant to create.

The Love of the youth
That grows and multiplies
Until a cloud cover of protection obliterates
The rest of the world.

The smells that are smelled are smelled twice
The gift that is gotten is shared twice.
The protection is always there
That the other not miss out
On the grand and wondrous things of life.

Always the lagging behind
The tugging and pulling
Because I don’t want you
To miss the beauty of it all!
Oh, God, it’s so grand!

Hurry run and keep up with me!
Hurry come and enjoy with me!
Hurry and understand.

The wind gives me the breath
So I can say,
I LOVE YOU!

Oh, please understand,
I come to you with Love on my sleeve
Which now wraps me in a cocoon of silk.
The rain comes afresh and washes me anew,
To understand the power of my LOVE!
To the joy of the shared times
That always have their ups and
Those cataclysmic downs.

Hold on baby for they come stronger now!

The feelings of age,
Grant us not a quiet time
But a propulsion into the future
That shall be blessed with a Love beyond words!

Hurry,
My darling and come along with me!
To the peaks of our valleys
For the grandeur still awaits us
And shall consume us with happiness.

The tide that binds
Grows so strong it frightens
The pull of directions continues
Becomes fearful and uncertain.

But this I know,
It shall be a ride that shall continue
Until the time can no longer be counted.
Until the ocean vanishes from the shore,
Until the sky is no more
And the wind is replaced!
That is the emotion of Love!

And yet I be me!
It’s so grand and crazy but
So wonderful and full of life!

When you hear the birds sing
Always think of me
I ordered it just for us to hear in the morning!
Where the fields are laden with buttercups and
The cattails are freshly spun with dew!

Now grant me my peace
Assure me that my Love
Is returned as it is sent to you!
Make me struggle no more with
The questions of do you, or
Do you not continue to care?

For without your Love
Surely, this sack I carry
Around my neck would
Weigh me down and smother me
In the fields of my unborn Love!

Now I know!
I Love you as I Love me,
That’s the emotion of LOVE!

Grant me my peace
Let me unleash my power
Now, I truly understand,
THE EMOTION OF LOVE!
